I joined the Damien family in 1997. I am a teacher in the Theology Department but have worn many hats through the years including club moderator, summer school math teacher, soccer coach, and recently the director of student Christian service.
Through the years, I have "worn many hats" at Damien. I helped coach JV soccer for 3 seasons. For several summers, I had the opportunity to teach one of my all time favorite subjects - math. I was the dean of the St. Martin De Porres House which won the first ever House Cup in 2011 and again in 2013.... and again in 2014.... 3 of the first 4 cups.... establishing a dynasty!! I have had the very special privilege of being a Kairos leader and have appreciated these truly unique opportunities to connect with our seniors before they graduate.
I am a graduate of The University of Southern California where I double majored in Religious Studies and American Studies and played tuba in the Trojan Marching Band. I was blessed with opportunities to volunteer at schools in the USC area through the Joint Educational Project. I then did my graduate work in Religious Studies at Mount Saint Mary's College in Los Angeles.
I hold a High School Religion Teacher Certification from the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
My wife and I married in June 2005. She is a supervisor for a Head Start program. Our daughter Sophia was born in 2010 and our daughter Alison was born in 2013. We have 2 dogs at home.
I have done service work with several organizations through the years including parish work, detention ministry, service on Skid Row, Catholic Relief Services, Relay for Life, Inland Valley Hope Partners, Saint Vincent DePaul, etc. I truly enjoy helping our brothers and sisters who are most in need.
I enjoy being active - traveling, camping, biking, hiking, etc. I have completed the LA Marathon 8 times and numerous other races over the years but jogging around my neighborhood before the sun comes up is what I like the most.
In April of 2011, I had the privilege of visiting the Holy Land of Israel. It was truly inspirational to see where Jesus was born, walked, preached, died and rose from the dead. I hope to visit again - with my wife and daughters this time. I also pray we make it to the Vatican in Rome!!
